Ugandans and Friends of the Ugandan community in the Netherlands have opened a cultural and business centre dubbed "Uganda House Cultural and Business Centre (UHCBC)".

This, according to David Kirunda, the Chief Organizer is set to establish lasting relations with authorities and other viable stakeholders.

"Owing to the fact that we have perpetually increased numerically, the urge to centralize our presence in the Netherlands was always going to take centre stage," Kirunda said, adding that through rather diverse but very solid and efficient segments, Ugandans in the Netherlands have been able to contain the demands of living in the diaspora.

He explained that Uganda House in the Netherlands will be the epitome of identity for every Ugandan, with peace and social cohesion. It also intends to have unity as major founding block for community progress and prosperity.

The cultural and business centre which is the first of its kind will be launched officially on Saturday 18 April at the Uganda House – Hogevecht in Amsterdam. The Ambassador and Head of Mission Uganda Embassy in Brussels, Mirjam Blaak Sow is expected to officiate the event.

Kirunda said the same event will see the launch of a project called "Uganda Homestay Tourism Project" (UHTP) where tourists will experience true life of an African villager, a new and effective strategy to fight poverty in Ugandan rural areas.
