    Announcement on immediate increase in price of gorilla permits in Rwanda

    The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) announced on 6 May that there will be an immediate increase in the price of a gorilla permit in Rwanda from US $750 t0 US $1,500.

    The reasons for this increase have been given. All tourism companies will be implementing this increase with immediate effect. All new permits bought will have to be bought at the higher price. Existing permits that have already been purchased are not affected. The Rwanda Tour and Travel Association (RTTA) requested that the increase be delayed for six months but this suggestion was not accepted.

    The price of a gorilla permit in Uganda remains at US $600 for high season and US $450 for low season.
